Once^® is a layered application built on an application framework.

 
The core of this framework is the database and the file archive, where all information in the system is stored.  Searching and manipulation of information is done with the help of a software layer used by all clients in the system. 

A centralized application framework reduces the amount of information exchanged with clients.  All information can be exchanged with external systems without changes in the software layer.  This makes Once^® an effective part of a distributed information system.
 

Starting with the application framework it is simple to develop tailored solutions.  This may be done by Engineering Systems as a development task, or by the customer's development department, based on program specifications for the application framework.
